OWNing It

The past two days in television have been especially noteworthy. The newest American Idol was crowned, the Glee finale came and went (which I have yet to see), and Oprah signed off. I was especially enamored by Oprah’s final episode. Whether you love her or hate her, I think she has an exemplary gift in her communication skills, both interpersonally and internationally. To have a show, named after you, that is thriving for over 25 years is beyond successful. It’s noteworthy, it’s meaningful, and it’s made an impact.

I admire Oprah. Yes, I know, I’m perfectly fitting the stereotype, but I’m OWNing it. (Oh hey, Oprah Winfrey Network.) I admire any woman who can make her way in the world; to have a dream, go for it, and get it. She has helped trail-blaze a path, along with many other women, to show that as girls, we can do anything we set our hearts and minds to.

One of my dreams is to have a talk show like Oprah someday. I’d love to have a “Sunny Side Up” show that emphasizes happiness and gratitude on a daily basis. Just like she did, I want to encourage people to be thankful for what they’ve been given, seek new challenges on a daily basis, and to find happiness in every possible nook and cranny of life. As Oprah signs off, I’m signing in—today and every day has so many possibilities.

Keep shining,
