I wish I could tell you more about the details of my summer internship at NBC but I have to respect company policy and abide by their privacy. I completely understand this requirement and as an intern, I’d like to keep my position! But I think it is safe for me to say that I am having an amazing time thus far and I am learning so much. After a long day at work today, I walked away feeling inspired, enlightened, and thankful.
I think I’ve been surprised. I thought I might have to fend for myself. But this has been the most helpful and collaborative experience that I’ve had thus far in my life. I’m amazed every day by the many people, who are so busy with deadlines and demands, who still take the time each day to answer any and every question that I have. There’s not a button that goes unexplained or a story that they don’t want to share. The people at my internship have been some of the nicest that I have encountered and I feel like I’ve really been taken under the wing.
I still don’t know what I want to do with my life. I’m not one of the kids who was born watching the stock market or who kept an eye on C-SPAN for the latest Senate hearing updates. But my internship has created a new-found love for the news—and especially to see that news for myself. I love to ask those questions, meet those people, and be in that place to find the real answers. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else this summer.
