With school approaching for so many of us (and for some it has already started!), it is time to say “yes.” With the beginning of the school season in full swing, I think we should take advantage of every opportunity that comes our way. If a friend invites you to a movie—say yes! If a certain class sparks your interest—say yes! If a great concert comes up—say yes! Say yes to the right opportunities that come your way—live your life without regrets.
Starting a new year can feel daunting, especially when you’re a freshman in college. You’re inundated with new people, new places, and new adventures—weeding out all of your options can feel utterly overwhelming. So take it from the people who have been there. I am an adamant believer in mentors and having a fellow student as a mentor is one of the best ideas in the book. Getting advice from someone who has taken the right and the wrong classes can help you have the best of the best experience while avoiding the pitfalls. It doesn’t just apply to classes either, a peer mentor knows about the best clubs to join, the best hangouts, hotspots, and everything else that might spark your interest.
I am encouraging you to say “yes” to your life—and to reach out to the people who have said “yes” to opportunities before you. You don’t want to say “yes” to the wrong things and “no” to the right—having a guide to help you make those blind calls works wonders.
Don’t just say yes to the dress…say yes to life!
