Hello everyone! I’ve missed you all! My computer seems to be feeling much better now and I’m so excited to get my keyboard back in shape—typing is always a good workout for your laptop! This has been just about one of the busiest weeks and I have been an editing machine for the book. It has been a very time consuming process but I’m so excited for the end result. So with that and an abnormal psychology midterm, I haven’t had much free time to write for the blog. But now I’m back! Hoo-rah.
More than the madness of midterms, this week is particularly exciting because it is BIG SISTER REVEAL WEEK. What is such a week you might ask? In sorority land it is a special period of extreme gift giving, excessive doting, and all around girl flirting. It’s actually quite endearing and I absolutely love this week in our chapter. Our new pledges get big sisters and as the big sisters adorn them with gifts every day of the week, the little sister has to guess who her big sister might be based on the clues she is given (which may or may not be accurate).
I am so excited because I am taking two little sisters this year—which means I am having twins! (Another sorority term in our elaborate Greek life language). I’m having so much fun showering them with gifts and hidden clues—I hope I haven’t revealed my identity yet! The big reveal night is this Thursday so they’ll officially find out then. Not to mention, I already have one lovely little from last year so technically I am having triplets! Octomom, watch out!
More than anything I love this week because it sets the foundation for strong bonds. My big sister, Kelly, is one of my dearest friends and we were even roommates last year. Beyond the sorority, she is a best friend that I hope I will have for the rest of my life. I hope that I’ll be able to be a mentor like Kelly was to me and I hope that this week will be just the beginning of so many happy friendships.
Sunny Suggestion: Reach out to a friend today! You don’t have to give them a week’s worth of gifts but a small token of affection is always appreciated!
