2015 has started off with a bang! I’m not sure if I’ve ever been busier. I am tremendously thankful for all this busyness because that means business has been good. I have loved traveling and speaking; I am so blessed by the amazing people that I have met on the road. I can only hope that it will continue.
As the year progresses, there are still many changes ahead. I will be starting my practicum training and I am so excited to announce that I will be working at La Vie Counseling Center in Pasadena. I am thrilled about this new opportunity and I am looking forward to a year of fruitful labor and tremendous learning.
La Vie offers services to individuals, couples, groups, and families. With a private practice model that still offers community care, La Vie provides therapy for a wide range of clientele. What particularly drew me to La Vie is that they offer spiritual counseling, particularly for those who want a Christian approach. While I myself am a Christian, my goal is not to become a strictly Christian therapist per se. I want to be able to offer services to as many people as possible. However, for those that want Christian or spiritually based therapy, I want to be competent in providing that perspective.
With all the speaking that I do, I am so excited to start listening more. After all, we have one mouth and TWO ears. As much as I love taking the stage and sharing what I’ve learned, I also love sitting in a room with someone and developing a healing connection—I can’t wait for this step ahead.
I can’t believe I’m already halfway through my Marriage and Family Therapy program at USC. I have grown to love this journey more and more. I am grateful to be surrounded by such thoughtful classmates who teach me what true empathy and compassion looks like on a daily basis. I know we are glad to have had a year of full training before serving in the community but now we are so ready to begin this work. It’s time to start.
